Well, another arc Wisconsin opener is in the books, and early reports indicate that it will be another season of banners for the trophy hunters. my friend Jim stopped by yesterday with rack from the dollar took about opening morning. Impressive, to say the least. This mainframe 10 had a couple of extra points and raw scores a little more than 166.What an incredible deers and Jim’s biggest date.

What is even more impressive is that he filmed this deer outside its package of 40 acres of hunting, and is the deer of 160-class 2 were taken out of this property in the last 3 years. The key is that Jim area of Northeast Wisconsin is home to good genetics and ecology of tremendous edge. what works to its advantage is that the area also has several large landowners who subscribe to percentage management principle (as described by Charles Alsheimer in his last articles D & DH) .in a nutshell, the landowners destination the top 15 percent of bucks on their property, that–despite the heavy pressure–hunting has enabled many of these deer to reach age 4-and 5-year-old.

The take home message: you can kill large deer out of small property if the Earth is surrounded by the right mix of the shrine, food and management criteria.

Thanks to Jim to share these photos with us. first is from mid-August.

Everyone remembers to your first shoot a buck. Please share your stories and pictures from your first deer.

I shot my first deer in November 2004. We were private land hunting in Pine County, Minnesota, and it was outside freeze. Swede and I were hunting stand and I was frozen after the meeting for about 2 hours in 12 degrees below zero.I hadn’t seen yet heard a thing except for farmers donkey, when I heard “Snapping” I looked behind me and it was a nice 9pt just walk along, smell the rut without a care in the world.

I slowly turned my 30.06 raised and fired… CLICK! My rifle brought, so I quickly my screw action rechambered triggered my rifle and click!… another misfire. This happened 2 new before I order completely my rifle had several times,. surprisingly, the deer not even noticed me. It continues to slowly, has it nose on the ground, completely clueless to my desperate attempts, my damn gun get fire.

So, now I have my rifle reloads and sure enough, I can not see the deer überall.Suche by my scope, I begin final Glimspe of tail through the forest. My missed first shots and the deer doesnt run.I reload and fire again….BANG and deer disappears.

At this point I’m crushed as I thought there was no way that I the deer hit hatte.Ich climb down my stand and walk in the general direction of where I think the deer I approach Stand.Als, I see it laying on the ground… no blood nothing… I had met in spine and let it where it never knew standen.Die deer there what hit

In the middle of October is just around the corner, and by now most of us had the opportunity to get on the stand of a handful of times. Is expected that season early meetings have shed some light on the whereabouts of some of their dollars from the results list. However if you are frustrated and not seeing deer you expected, you can have several reasons why. This time of year approximately 12 October 25th October, can be a difficult time for hunting and is often referred as “October Lull.” Therefore, let’s take a look at some possible reasons that cannot be seen large deer who hoped it would and ways that you can still find success!

In the subarctic forest, research has shown that a mature stag will be at your location of stand within 36 hours of you hunts it! Even with the best odor control really only have two or three rests quality before it must withdraw and leave than the area to cool off. I have personally found that can increase your chances if only to hunt a position when the wind is perfect! If that means waiting a week or more among which sits at that location may be the factor determinante.Ejercer too much pressure on deer is one of the main reasons why ball activity declines during the Lull of October, so smart approaches of when and where they hunt.

Warm temperatures during this time of year can also significantly suppress movement during the día.Normalmente if the temperature is above 70 degrees during the day most deer remains beds until well after sunset. However, if you have access to a source of water near some dense cover and wind is just right can in luck!

In this time of year the food is still at the forefront of a mature bucks mind. Some experience with breeding and knows that you have extra fat stores is an edge in the marathon that is nearing embarcarse.Fuentes food preferred in the Middle West this time of year tend to be maize field, alfalfa, acorns and fruit trees.

For now is probably thinking is easy, I can catch him at the edge of a field just cultivation before darkness. Remember that this deer has made through several seasons of hunting and knew can already which are hunting him, you need to play smart!

First you must identify where he is feeding find rubbed fresh scrapes, large tracks and droppings in a preferred near of a food source staging area. Then, without impacting the region identify where he will probably be shall be bedded to give better advantage of identifying a predator approaches.

Aerial photos and previous knowledge of the landscape work well in determining this location.Once you have the location you choose a tree.I would suggest placing your stand as close to the staging area as possible, because this is often where a mature stag will spend those minutes of the last light of the day of entering the campo.Esto also lets you position yourself far enough beds where he is to not you spook on their way in.Remember, you want to hunt him when the wind is appropriate for him and not always for you.

Therefore, hang your stand approximately 20 to 30 metres out of the main runway to expect that you are using. Many times in the middle of October we have a lot of days with wind from the South or Southwest if temperatures are cálidas.Si forecast shows warm days in forecasts hang together on the north side of the sign to the extent of the posible.Si a cold front in the store to do exactly the opposite.

It is likely that if he is only get one or two sits down to get it done, therefore expect timely and principios.Si play your cards right and stay smart, October Lull doesn’t have to be much of a truce in everything! personal experience has led me to believe that this time period might be the best time to master and reap a true giant!

Guys have other tips any good for hunting the truce of October? lets you hear ‘em!

Most likely, if you’re like me, not afford thousands of acres of leases of hunting in each State. Therefore, if you want that hunting of deer in a State that you do not live in, you are anyone will have to fork over a lot of money for a guide, or you will have to find some hunting of public land. This is especially true if you want to hunt down a popular hunting of deer as Illinois State. Illinois has a bit of hunting of public land, but as with any State that is filled so strongly as Illinois, you will have to work hard to avoid the crowds. A land of Illinois public hunting you might want to check out is Cedar Glen State natural area.

Cedar Glen is situated near the city of Warsaw Illinois.Warsaw is located along the Mississippi River and is located in the western part of Northern Illinois.El access is good and should not have a problem finding a place to stay if you decide to visit the area.

As of this writing, this years still unpublished Illinois deer hunting regulations so I’m not sure that any changes that may have taken place in Illinois, or Cedar Glen area.Last year, could buy a state hunting permit and have access to this área.Cazadores Illinois Muzzleloading deer and Shotgun had to have a special quota permit. Once again, not sure about this year as it is a little early, so be sure to consult current standards for the Illinois, deer hunting before embarking.

The topography of Cedar Glen consist of about half and half of hardwood high and low lands. If prefer you hunting forest with openings, then, the Highlands shall not disappoint you.In addition, if you like a bit of mud mixed with his hunting and muck, low area wants him without end!

You will have approximately 1100 acres roam and hunt in Cedar Glen.Hay some outside of zones limit, so make sure you get a nice map of the area before embarcarse.Siendo on the Mississippi River, you know there only has to be some bucks bruiser there and I’m betting that if access to the area around the routine can only view a few!

Cedar Glen would certainly be in my list of public land Illinois game spot to check out if you went to Illinois this year., and I just might do it!

Here is data sheet, as well as a link to a map of the area.
