I hunt in Massachusetts. There are food sources everywhere hence lots of oak trees. I look for areas that the deer are using by scouting for droppings, frequently used runs or trails, tracks. There is someting about terrain that attracts deer. They feel safe and there must be en easy escape route or haven they can go hide. There must be a water source close by as well. Thats my 2 cents!
