- Get in the woods as early as possible.
- Know where you’re going before you leave for your stand (scout ahead of time). Try not to turn on your flashlight.
- Try to set up in a natural funnel, where several natural paths come together.
- Don’t ever shoot until there is enough light for you to identify your target with absolute certainty (you don’t want to shoot somebody else’s decoy while they’re setting it up!)
- Stay upwind of where you think the deer coming through.
- If you hunt with optics, get a transparent, yellow cover for them, both to help protect the lenses from moisture and to give a clearer image in low light situations.
- Walk in the longest distance you can handle, rather than driving or riding an atv…you won’t spook as many animals.
Have fun hunting.
